The present article examines the relations and interactions of Shah Nematollah Vali, the founder of the Ni‘matullāhī Sufi order, with the social, political, cultural, and religious structures of the Timurid period. The primary objective of this study is to analyze the behavioral patterns and social role of Shah Nematollah Vali through his mystical teachings and his perspective on the transformations of his historical context. Within this framework, the study investigates his role in the expansion of Sufism and Islamic mysticism, the promotion of convergence among diverse social, religious, and political groups, and his efforts toward the realization of social justice. By utilizing his spiritual and intellectual capacities, Shah Nematollah Vali succeeded in presenting a model of religious and spiritual leadership that maintained relatively constructive engagement with political authorities while simultaneously preserving intellectual and ideological independence. The article also addresses the challenges and limitations he encountered, including confrontation with opposing intellectual currents and the long-term negative consequences of certain political interactions. Analysis of these dimensions contributes to a deeper understanding of leadership strategies and methods of addressing social crises during that historical period. Ultimately, the study emphasizes the enduring potential of Shah Nematollah Vali’s teachings and highlights the applicability of his model to contemporary challenges, particularly in the fields of intercultural, interreligious, and interethnic relations. Accordingly, Shah Nematollah Vali may be regarded not merely as a historical figure but as a social model capable of guiding contemporary societies in addressing issues of religious, ethnic, and political pluralism.
